Who? me?
Bixie Mathieu (or Bixie Boots) is an LA-based queer, feminist, goofy writer, illustrator, and comic book editor. Her work brings a humorous spin to larger issues of the woman’s experience in society, mental health struggles, and intersectional joy. All of her worlds drip in highly saturated colors and misanthropic jokes.
After graduating from the University of Texas in International Relations, Bixie travelled over 27 countries before settling down in California to work at such comic titans as DC Comics, Skybound Entertainment, Tapas Media, and now IDW Publishing. She has also worked in the young reader and middle-grade children’s book space, partnering with Moonbeam Literary & Media to promote marginalized voices to a universal audience.
With a profound passion for storytelling in all forms, Bixie has written extensively, serving as the lead Game Designer for Oh No! I Died and Woke Up a Greek God!, a first-person visual novel. She was also a Script Writer for the children’s Youtube channel, Aphmau, with over 20 million subscribers, and with each of her videos averaging 1.1-2.2 million views, as well as the co-creator of Biting Love, a queer vampire webtoon with over 11,000 reads.
Through all of this, it’s become her mission to discuss the angry, joyous spirit we face today in this increasingly violent and absurd world.
